About Me

Echo BnW

Mark Bousquet is the author of over a dozen novels, and splits his creative output between kids books and genre fiction. He is the writer of The Bear at the Top of the Stairs and the Adventures of the Five series and Stuffed Animals for Hire series for kids, and the weird western series, Gunfighter Gothic, Victorian-era horror novel, The Haunting of Kraken Moor, the space opera, Harpsichord & the Wormhole Witches, and the superhero novel, Used to Be: The Kid Rapscallion for adults. He is always looking for a new genre to attempt.

Mark is a double-graduate of Syracuse University (Bachelor’s in Public Communications and English Textual Studies), and after sojourns to the University of New Hampshire (Masters in English), Purdue University (Ph.D. in American Studies), and the University of Nevada, Reno (where he taught writing and fell in love with wide open spaces), he is currently a full-time member of Syracuse University’s Department of Writing Studies.  His academic writing has appeared in collections focused on Marvel Comics’ Civil War, Food in Film, and 19th-century whaling. He is working on his first book of travel writing, which is his favorite genre to write and how he would most like to earn a living.

Beyond writing, Mark likes to take photographs and travel with his dog, Darwin. He performs locally with the Syracuse Improv Collective, as members of the teams, What’s My Name, Again? and Mathed Potatoes.
